Piñon Hills Boulevard.FARMINGTON — Farmington police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving after he rolled his car on
Students at nearby Piedra Vista High School and Heights Middle School were briefly under shelter in place status, according to a news release from Farmington police.
At about 1:40 p.m., police received a report of a reckless driver near Country Club Drive and Main Street. The car proceeded west to Piñon Hills Boulevard, where it eventually rolled.
An initial report stated that a person with a knife was at the scene and that a citizen was holding the driver at gunpoint.
Police did not find firearms at the scene. An investigation revealed that a bystander used a knife to cut the seatbelt and help the driver's 4-year-old daughter out of the car.
The driver, Brandan Dotson, of Lakewood, Colo., was charged with drunken driving, child abuse and several traffic violations.
This marked Dotson's third arrest on suspicion of DWI.
