FARMINGTON — Shiprock Chapter residents are being asked to volunteer to clean the community on Monday.

Volunteers will be assigned to a location in Shiprock to complete tasks such as painting walls, trash removal and weed cutting.

The list of locations include Nizhoni Park, the mural wall across from Shiprock Trading Post, Chief Hill, JaĆ”'buuni'rest area, the area near the Barber and Borg Law Office, and the business site lease area east of The Rock Storage.

Graffiti clean up is also planned throughout the chapter along with picking up trash along the community's streets.

This is one way to show pride and to demonstrate that residents care about their community, Shiprock Chapter president Duane "Chili" Yazzie said.

Clean up activities start at 8 a.m. Volunteers can register at the chapter house Monday and be assigned a work project, Yazzie said.
