Farmington — The Rio del Sol Kiwanis Club will present three local charities each with about $600.

At noon Thursday, the Kiwanis Club will gather at K-BOB's Steakhouse in Farmington to present checks to ECHO Food Bank, People Assisting the Homeless and Wounded Warriors.

The money was raised during the club's first fundraiser. The members sold raffle tickets for a shopping spree.

The local Kiwanis Club folded around two years ago. Community members revived the club earlier this year, and, on May 5, the Rio del Sol Kiwanis Club was chartered. The club currently has 33 members and is looking for additional members.

Jill McQueary, the club's secretary, said the more members the club has, the more projects it can do to help the community.
