FARMINGTON — A Bloomfield man was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Dustin Garrison, 50, was arrested on Tuesday while deputies searched his home with a warrant, said San Juan County Sheriff's Office Lt. Cory Tanner in a prepared statement.
The investigation began last month when the girl's mother reported to police she had "suspicions" her daughter was in a relationship with an older man.
Tanner said investigators learned Garrison sent the girl Internet messages, and the two made plans to meet.
Garrison was charged with four counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, a first-degree felony.
Magistrate Judge Trudy Reed-Chase ordered Garrison to be held at the San Juan County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
