FARMINGTON — Farmington police arrested a man on suspicion of plotting a murder, and officers are working to determine if the plot is connected to the Animas Valley Mall shooting on April 27.

Justin Dedios, 24, was arrested on Wednesday, according to Farmington police. He and three other people were taken into custody by the Farmington Police Department SWAT Team from the Anasazi Inn, 903 W. Main St.

Dedios was booked into jail early Thursday morning, said Farmington Police Cpl. David Karst.

The Farmington Police Patrol Division gathered information about the conspiracy, and the Gang Unit determined the threat was legitimate, according to a police news release.

Karst declined to discuss how police uncovered details about the plot in an effort to protect the identities of people who are working with police.

The status of the three other suspects taken into custody on Wednesday was not available on Thursday evening.
