The Santa Fe New Mexican (http://bit.ly/16qUCL8) reports the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission on Wednesday voted to cancel a public hearing next week on the new rule and adopt a previously approved plan that was never published or implemented.
The panel also voted to start a rewrite of the rule.
A Western Resource Advocates attorney called Wednesday's action, "a good outcome."
He said the scrapped rule had become a loophole to allow litigation on money spent on renewable energy.
The rule is meant to ensure a state plan requiring more alternative energy doesn't hit customers too hard.
