Lady Scorps split on Day 2 in Bullhead
Farmington High moved to 1-2 in the Mohave Tournament in Bullhead, Ariz., with a 1-1 performance Friday.
The Lady Scorpions (1-2) fell to Fountain Valley, Calif., 10-2 before beating Taylorsville, Utah 6-2.
"The first game was pretty miserable. It was 7:30 in the morning and there was a light rain the entire game," said FHS head coach Johnny Curry. "We didn't play very well, but we warmed up in the last inning and that was a bright spot for us."
Jordan Curry pitched the first game against Fountain Valley and gave up nine hits while striking out four in a game that was shortened to four innings due to rain.
Katelynn Flack went 2-2 with two singles and two RBIs in the loss.
Against Taylorsville, Sicily Vilano earned the win in the circle.
"She pitched well and kept the ball down, and Erika Bradley was a ball magnet
at short stop," Curry said.
Celene Woolley was 3-3 with an RBI in the game while Cheyenne Cochran was 1-3 with a three-run home run.
"We played more like we expected to against a good Utah team. We hit the ball really well and were smart on the bases," Curry said.
Farmington will play two more games in Arizona today before returning home.
