Monty Python is a group of British actors and writers, as well as one American. The group performed a comedy show called "Monty Python's Flying Circus" on BBC from 1969 until 1974.
"Spamalot," which premiered in 2005, is a "loving" rip-off of the comedy team's motion picture "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
Spamalot tells the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table as they go on a quest to find the Holy Grail. The musical features dancing divas, knights, killer rabbits and other unique characters.
The musical features Arthur Rowan in the role of King Arthur. Rowan's debut "Spamalot" performance occurred after four years of working as a performer, director and fight choreographer for the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. He has also worked with various theaters in Washington, D.C., area, including the Folger Theater. In addition to playing Arthur in "Spamalot," Rowan currently performs with the Renaissance Musical Duo "Rowan and the Rose."

The play begins with a narrator describing medieval England. Then a Scandinavian village appears with Finnish villagers and the country's mayor singing a song and slapping women in the face with fish. At that point, the narrator interrupts, informs the actors he was talking about England and not Finland.
In addition to Rowan, Glenn Giron, a Santa Fe native, will be playing the part of King Arthur's servant and companion, Patsy. Other cast members include Abigail Raye as the Lady of the Lake and Adam Grabau as Sir Lancelot.
Jody Carman, who works for the City of Farmington Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs helped market Spamalot. She said the Civic Center Foundation for the Performing Arts brought the musical to Farmington.
Carman said a show like "Spamalot" can cost as much as $40,000. In order to break even, the Civic Center had to charge for tickets.
Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center Ticket Office, located at 200 W. Arrington in Farmington, or online at webtrac.fmtn.org. Prices are $40, $35, $30 and $20. For more information, contact the Civic Center Box Office at 505-599-1148.
"Spamalot" is produced by Phoenix Entertainment, an international theatrical producing and management enterprise. For three decades, Phoenix Entertainment has developed, produced and presented touring Broadway musicals and family entertainment in four continents.
