EL PASO COUNTY — El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark aimed carefully, her hands clutching a pistol.

Next to her, Peggy Littleton, another county commissioner, also took aim.

They fired.

All up and down the shooting positions guests fired pistols and shotguns, dust kicking up from the rounds hitting downrange.

Colorado's largest and newest public shooting range opened Wednesday with a whole lot of bangs.

Fort Carson and El Paso County hosted a "ribbon-shooting" ceremony for the Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex, touted as the largest public shooting range in Colorado.
