I've been biting my tongue for three months and I finally bit through. In Tuesday's article on the City Budget, Mary Fischer stated it is a budget she just can't support. "Not enough planning," she says. I guess she slept through the last three straight months of community forums and budget deliberations. She brought up the need to look at co-op insurance, like that is going to be worked out by the July 1 deadline and somehow make a dent in a $6.5 million deficit. A month back she bad-mouthed the new animal shelter, saying that after two years of public debate, design meetings, and financial compromise, it was also poorly planned. If after 24 years with Mary on the council she says there is not enough planning, maybe it is time for her to plan for retirement? Just saying!
