The Roswell Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/Z9LUhn) that county commissioners voted at their meeting this week to approve an ordinance that authorizes an agreement between the southeastern New Mexico county and the New Mexico Finance Authority for the renovation funds.
A part of the agreement is for the delivery and execution of a loan, which will be repaid with money from the county's Correctional Facility Gross Receipts Tax.
County Commissioner Kyle Wooton says the tax isn't new and there will not be an increase in taxes.
The county operates separate detention centers for adults and juveniles.
