SANTA FE, N.M.—The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office says an 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Christmas night shooting that left two men dead.

Authorities say Joe Rivera was taken into custody Monday. News of his capture came after the office announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Deputies responded on Dec. 25 to gunshots being fired in the Valle Vista subdivision.

Twenty-three-year-old John Griego was pronounced dead at the scene while 29-year-old Nicholas Baker was pronounced dead on arrival at Christus St. Vincent's Hospital. Deputies say both men suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Sheriff's investigators say an altercation between Rivera and the two victims led to the shooting.
