BLOOMFIELD — The man injured after two condensate tanks exploded Friday night at a salt water disposal plant sustained second-degree burns to his hands and face, authorities said.

Andrew Sanders, 24, was taken to a burn center in Salt Lake City because the burn center at the University of New Mexico was full, Bloomfield Fire Chief George Duncan said.

Bloomfield police and firefighters responded at about 8:15 p.m. to the Agua Moss Salt Water Disposal Plant at 3782, Provo St., Bloomfield Police Sgt. Derek Mohler said.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown and the investigation is ongoing, Duncan said.
