In the recent Viewpoint article, Hal Rhodes asks if we are tiring of dishonesty. His question relates to the "CO2 is Green" ads that refute global warming. He informs us that the leader of this group is a veteran oil geologist, insinuates these ads are designed to protect the finances of the oil industry, and they are being dishonest.
I am getting tired of journalists and others bashing those of us who do not subscribe to the global warming silliness. A recent poll by the Pew Research Center found the number of Americans who believe in global warming has dropped from 77 percent in 2006 to 57 percent now. The poll also found those who believe global warming may be caused by man has dropped from 47 percent in 2006 to only 36 percent now.
Perhaps the Americans who have changed their mind learned from other sources that carbon dioxide emissions have been 3-4 percent above projected levels in the past 10 years, but there has been no warming during that period. Perhaps they read the paper by EPA scientist Alan Carlin in which he states the link between carbon dioxide emissions and global warming is not valid. Or perhaps they saw the latest NOAA report that stated the summer of 2009 was one of the coolest ever.
In regard to the financial interests of those who are backing the "CO2 is Green" ads, there are a lot of people who are concerned about their jobs and fear the economic consequences of limiting carbon dioxide emissions through cap-and-trade or
A very tiresome answer from the global warming believers to us non-believers is that a "consensus of scientists" believes global warming is real and we are in grave danger if we don't address carbon dioxide emissions now. Many years ago a "consensus of scientists" believed the world was flat and the earth was the center of the universe. They were proven very wrong on both points.
Yes, Mr. Rhodes, I am tiring of dishonesty. But it is from the arrogant, elitist global warming fanatics "who spin out far-fetched yarns and wholesale fabrications to buttress their charges" and attack anyone who dares to disagree with them.
