Editor:
I would like to take a moment to support our Farmington Fire Department. The negative image that has been portrayed of past and present employees is very disheartening. These men are good men.
Former Fire Chief Robert Martin made a huge mistake that has disgraced the entire department; however, he is 1 of 100. Troy Brown is a good man and I challenge any of your readers to approach their boss with rumors of embezzlement and see what reaction is received.
The fire department is a family — they are brothers. Trust and honor are key. It is easy to criticize the decisions of Troy Brown, and although he should have investigated the allegations further, he trusted that his "brother" would never do anything to harm the integrity of the department.
The Daily Times would like us to believe that there is wide-spread corruption in the department and that a thorough cleaning is necessary. In reality, the morale was higher than ever with Fire Chief Troy Brown and Deputy Chief Terry Page in charge. It is understandable that this duo is no longer a possibility; however the constant criticism of every decision going forward is unnecessary.
The problem is gone and we hope he will be prosecuted fully! The department is just as ashamed as the rest of the citizens of Farmington by Mr. Martin's actions. We have read about the bad, now let's focus on the good.
Where is the press notifying the public that the firefighters recently gave the San Juan County
You would have a greater appreciation for the firefighters if you knew some of the situations they are placed in each day. Please help these great men move forward with positive progress and feedback, remembering that they perform a great service to the community every day. I am proud of them and you should be too!
