James Monteleone covers San Juan County's courtrooms and police departments for The Daily Times.

Monteleone covered Congress for Western Communications Newspapers from D.C., and Illinois state politics from Chicago before coming to The Daily Times in September 2007.

After living and working in big cities for several years, he was drawn to Farmington for the camping, climbing and snowboarding that's nowhere to be found in crowded cities and suburbs.

Monteleone has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois, Chicago and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
