I Proofread the news, proofread and edit letters to the editor and obituaries, compile Today in Local History, keep the archives accessible, and do research for reporters and editors

I was born in Oklahoma, grew up in Washington, D.C., and Maryland, went to high school and college in Texas, met my first husband in Alaska, and had my two children in California. I got tired of moving, and when my parents settled in Farmington in 1961, I found out this was the place I'd always been looking for, and I moved here in 1982, shortly after my father died.

I worked for more than 10 years as director of San Juan Catholic Charities and was president of the San Juan Council of Community Agencies at the time the PATH — People Assisting The Homeless — shelter was started at its present location.

I started working part time for The Daily Times in 1994, proofreading the Classifieds, and then the rest of the ads. My boss found out I could type and I wound up working full time typing copy for the Open House ads that run on

Sunday and then doing obituaries.

When MediaNews Group bought the paper, I was asked to serve on the editorial board (the publisher introduced me as their "token female") and then moved from the advertising department to the newsroom where I was assigned as librarian/archivist.

From that job I was promoted to Senior Copy Editor, and now I proofread the news, proofread and edit letters to the editor and obituaries, compile Today in Local History, keep the archives accessible, and help with research for reporters and editors.

I belong to Sacred Heart Church in Farmington where I play our new Clavinova on alternate Sundays, and serve as lector once a month. I serve on the Central Committee of the Libertarian Party of San Juan County. I'm an aficionado of classical music, old movies and books; love puzzles and politics; and don't believe I'll ever get enough sleep.
