US report: Syrian government gas attack killed more than 1,400

A State Department report released Friday says the U.S. intelligence community has "high confidence" that the Syrian government used nerve gas against opposition fighters and civilians Aug. 21 in the suburbs of Damascus, resulting in the deaths of 1,429, including 426 children.
