FARMINGTON — Farmington police responded Tuesday afternoon to a shooting at an apartment complex north of Farmington High School.
The incident was reported at 11:43 a.m. at the North Park Apartments, 2401 N. Dustin Ave. An officer arrived on scene one minute later.
Shots were fired, and no one was injured, said Farmington police Lt. Bruce Holiday.
Several adults were taken into custody, and a gun was confiscated, he said.
As a precaution, Farmington High School, 2200 N. Sunset Ave., and Ladera Del Norte Elementary School, 308 E. 35th St., took safety precautions for about 30 minutes. The doors were locked, and no one was allowed in or out of the schools.
The person who reported the shooting to police said a child was in the room where shots were fired, but police have not found evidence of that, Holiday said.
When police arrived, they secured the apartment where the shooting was reported, Farmington police Lt. Taft Tracy said in a news release.
Several people in the apartment were detained and questioned. Other people who were allegedly involved in the incident fled the scene and were later located and detained by police.
By Tuesday evening, three people had been arrested.
Ashley Socia, 19, was charged for allegedly having a disorderly house; Ashley Higdon, 22, was arrested on suspicion of drug paraphernalia; and Juan Chavez, 27, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
Tracy said the investigation was ongoing and more charges may be filed.
