GRANTS, N.M. (AP) — State police say a multi-vehicle crash linked to road rage in western New Mexico has left one driver dead.
The crash occurred Sunday afternoon on Interstate 40 in Cibola County.
A press release says a "road rage incident developed" and a driver in a Volkswagen attempted to get away from another vehicle. But the driver in the other vehicle rammed the left side of the Volkswagen.
Police say the driver that did the ramming then lost control, crossed the median and collided head-on with a van. That collision caused the driver that did the ramming to be ejected and police said he was killed.
The release didn't specify if there were any injuries among the others involved, nor did it elaborate on the cause of the road rage. The driver who died wasn't named.
Police say no charges have been filed, pending results of an investigation.
