As part of Vice President Joe Biden's visit to New York City on Thursday, he'll push for support to pass new federal gun laws with the city's mayor, Michael Bloomberg, and families from Newtown, Conn.

The speech will be streamed live by the White House at 11 a.m. ET. It will replace an earlier livestream of a discussion called "Women and the Environment." Even though a proposed ban on assault-style rifles was dropped by Senate Democrats on Tuesday, Biden said the White House would continue pushing for one. Bloomberg has been a strong advocate for greater gun control legislation.
