FARMINGTON — A Kirtland man was sentenced to more than five years in prison on Monday for sexually assaulting a child at a home in Shiprock four years ago.
Wilson Harry, Jr., 55, pleaded guilty to molesting a child when he was dating the child’s aunt and guardian in 2009, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
The 10-year-old child allegedly told her aunt about the abuse but she didn’t report it, according to court documents.
The abuse was reported to investigators when the girl and her sisters went to live with their grandmother in Omaha, Neb. in 2011 and she reported the allegations to Nebraska social services.
In an interview with FBI investigators in December, 2011, Wilson admitted to assaulting the girl while he was intoxicated.
He also said he was sexually abused as a child by one of his woman teachers at a boarding school.
He was sentenced to five years and three months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release. He will have to register as a sex offender.
