FARMINGTON — Two young children were treated at the hospital early Wednesday for cuts, bruises and other minor injuries.

Police arrested Jessica Halona in connection to the injuries. Halona has been charged with two counts of third-degree felony child abuse.

The children were treated at San Juan Regional Medical Center and released into the custody of a grandparent.

Police were called to the Motel 6 at 1600 Bloomfield Highway shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday. People were arguing outside a hotel room when police arrived, Farmington police Lt. Taft Tracy said in a news release.

Witnesses told officers that Halona threw a child across the room, giving the child a bloody nose.

The children also appeared to have old injuries, Tracy said
