FARMINGTON — The Navajo Nation Council confirmed three probationary district court judges last week during the council’s winter session.
Roy Tso, Jr., Victoria Yazzie, and Leonard Livingston all will serve a two year probationary term, as mandated by tribal law.
“We want good, qualified judges sitting on our benches,” said Council Delegate Russell Begaye, of Shiprock.
The Law and Order Committee initially determines the qualifications of all applicants through a screening process. Those that qualify are forwarded to the president of the Navajo Nation for appointment before confirmation by the council, according to a Friday press release from the Office of the Speaker.
