FARMINGTON — Navajo Nation Council Speaker Johnny Naize was re-elected today, beating out local Council Delegate LoRenzo Bates.
Naize, who has served as the council speaker for the past two years, won by two votes, earning 13 of the 24 votes. The other 11 votes went to Bates.
Naize is a former council delegate representing a portion of the Navajo Nation in eastern Arizona. Bates represents the T'iistoh Sikaad, Nenahnezad, Upper Fruitland, Tse' Daa' Kaan, Newcomb, and San Juan Chapters.
