Detectives and prosecutors said William Wilson acted in self defense when he Tyson Mclemee outside Mclemee’s home in Flora Vista on Jan. 7, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cory Tanner said in a news release.
Mclemee, however, has been charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and criminal damage to property.
Police said Mclemee threatened Wilson with a meat cleaver before Wilson shot him in the stomach.
Mclemee was arrested Wednesday and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on a $41,000 cash-only bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
