FARMINGTON – The San Juan County Sheriff's Office said a man was stabbed and run over with a car at a residence on County Road 5587 Tuesday evening.

Sgt. Dave Hamlin said the victim was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center to be treated for a stab wound to the stomach and injuries to his legs. He was treated and released.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital Tuesday night to be treated for an elevated heart rate. He remained at the hospital Wednesday night, Hamlin said.

Law enforcement did not release the names of the suspect or the victim because no one had been charged with a crime. Hamlin said the man may be arrested on Thursday.

Prior to the stabbing, the suspect may have told the victim was abusing a relative, but detectives found no evidence of abuse on Wednesday, Hamlin said.
