SANTA FE (AP) — Santa Fe County officials are trying to learn why a homicide victim was released from custody and not placed back in juvenile detention several months before he was killed.
Authorities say 20-year-old Marco Bequett was found fatally shot New Year's Eve in Rio Arriba County. Two young men are charged in the killing that allegedly stemmed from the theft of a PlayStation.
The Santa Fe New Mexico (http://bit.ly/WrlwrL ) says Bequett was released from the Santa Fe County jail in October when he should have been held at a detention center in Albuquerque through November 2013.
Santa Fe County Director of Public Safety Pablo Sedillo says an internal investigation is under way
