CARLSBAD — Carlsbad authorities are looking for an elderly bank robber who told the teller he just needed enough money to pay for his wife's surgery.
Police say the man walked into the Western Commerce Bank on Canyon Street Thursday and passed a note to a teller demanding money.
The Carlsbad Current Argus reports the teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber told the teller what was handed to him was enough money because he only needed enough to pay for the surgery. He then walked calmly out of the bank and disappeared in the alley between two stores.
The man as an unshaven, white male with dark rimmed glasses. He reportedly smelled of alcohol.
