ALBUQUERQUE (AP) — A man who got into a fight with his son where a steak knife and machete were used as weapons at an Albuquerque home has died.
KRQE-TV reports that police say Keith Coppler died over the weekend after being on life support. His son, 21-year-old Andrew Coppler, was arrested Monday and charged with murder.
Police say the two men got into an argument at a family barbecue last week.
According to authorities, the son first slashed his father with a steak knife, the father then started swinging a machete. Police say the son later put the father in a choke hold causing him to lose consciousness.
Police said they didn't know if Andrew Coppler had an attorney.
