ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Police say a fight between a man and his father involving a steak knife and a machete at an Albuquerque home has landed the father on life support.

KRQE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/S8MvuX) that Andrew Coppler was arrested Monday on aggravated battery charges after getting into an argument with his dad, Keith, at a family barbecue.

Authorities say the two had been drinking when the argument started.
