Farmington police arrested a 36-year-old woman last week for allegedly setting up a fake charity to collect money from local businesses.
Shawna Tobin, of Aztec, was arrested Nov. 13 and charged with third-degree felony fraud, Farmington police Sgt. Brandon Lane said in a press release.
A three-month investigation revealed Tobin used a fake organization she called “Get Strong” and received more than $6,000 from local businesses.
The fraud dates back to August 2011, according to police.
