The Lady Panthers will open with matches against No. 8 Centennial and No. 9 Los Alamos.
"I'm very happy with the pool," said PV head coach Ron Becker. "One thing that surprised me was Los Alamos. They played very solid and could have been a No. 3 or No. 4 seed. They have been ranked higher all year."
PV defeated Los Alamos earlier in the season in four sets, and has yet to see Centennial.
Farmington made the tournament as the No. 11 seed and was placed in a pool with No. 3 Goddard and No. 6 Los Lunas.
"That's kind of where we expected to be," said Lady Scorps head coach Dan Hickman. "Goddard is a good, young team, but haven't had much experience. We don't want to get too excited, but we want to bring our best game to the court. I think our advantage in the pool is that they don't know us."
Shiprock and Bloomfield enter pool play in the 3A tournament after the Lady Chiefs won the regular season district title, and the Lady Bobcats won the district tournament.
Shiprock is the No. 6 seed and will match up against No. 3 Portales and No. 11 Ruidoso.
"I think the odds are good. We didn't get the worst draw," said Lady Chiefs head coach Rae Collins. "I got a tape on Portales and I'll have to get in contact with a couple coaches about Ruidoso."
Bloomfield is seeded No. 12 and faces No. 4 Silver and No. 5 Santa Fe Indian.
The hosts of the New Mexico Activities Association pool show — unaware of the Lady Bobcats tourney win — questioned why Bloomfield was included.
"We're the Rodney Dangerfield of 3A volleyball — no respect," said BHS head coach Tami Bekes. "We were all watching, and the girls weren't happy with what was said. We can surprise some people. We're in a good pool."
Navajo Prep was happy being placed in the top five of the 2A tournament, earning the No. 4 seed.
The Lady Eagles will face No. 5 Laguna-Acoma and No. 12 Cuba.
"That's where we stand, and now it's our job to go in and prove that we're a top five team," said Navajo Prep head coach Rainy Crisp. "Every year, we're competitive and hopefully, we'll have a good run at it."
Pool play begins for all teams on Thursday.
