Farmington police arrested a man and woman on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and damaging political campaign signs.
Kevin Howell, 43, and Tamera Howell, 52, allegedly vandalized a Barack Obama campaign sign near the intersection of Villa View and Main Street on Wednesday night, Farmington police Lt. Taft Tracy said.
Police made contact with the Howells near Piñon Hills Boulevard and Main Street, Tracy said.
Kevin Howell, who was driving an off-highway vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of DWI and criminal damage to property and Tamera Howell was arrested for possession consumption, Tracy said.
Both the Howells are registered Republicans, according to the New Mexico secretary of state's website.
