“It was a really close game, but we kept killing ourselves,” said Bobcat head coach Bruce Hatch. “We made too many mistakes — a turnover here or there at inopportune times. When we correct that and hit on all cylinders, look out.”
The Bobcats (2-3) got rushing touchdowns from Josh Archibeque and Anthony Whisenhunt, and Tytis Nez caught another score from quarterback Bobby Lyon.
Bloomfield has alternated losses and wins for the first five games this season and have yet to built any momentum, but Hatch is hopeful that the difficult schedule will pay off later in the season.
“We have won and loss and won and loss, going back and forth like that, but we are playing good teams and coming up on the short end,” he said. “But it will pay dividends come November. There are 3A teams around the state with good records but are playing 2A schools. I stand by our schedule for being tough. We have been in these games, and we need to turn the page and get one of these put away. Playing a good Farmington team next week and Kirtland after that will help.”
The Bobcats will play at Hutchison Stadium against the Scorpions next Friday.
