Brandon Levi won the meet with a time of 16:56, while his Panther teammate Harrison Fleming took third with his time of 17:14.
"Overall, it was a good effort from my team," said PV head coach Sampson Sage. "I knew Brandon would attempt to go after one of the top times, and to have Harrison finish as well as he did was a big step up. He's normally 40 seconds behind Brandon."
Shiprock's Shawvan Levi finished in second between the two PV runners after finishing with a time of 17:11 to help lead the Chieftains to first place as a team by 4 points over PV 54-58.
Eric Williams finished in fifth place for Shiprock.
Navajo Prep took third in the event.
David Wauneka placed sixth and Kevin Hardy finished in seventh for the Eagles.
In the girls' race, Navajo Prep came out victorious over PV with Shiprock finishing in third.
"The girls did surprisingly well," Sage said. "Even with one our of top runners out with an asthma attack, they were able to rally and race really well."
Amber Manuelito finished in third place with a time of 21:55 behind Shayla Tate and Shelby Jim of Monument Valley to help lead Navajo Prep to the win.
Delta Higdon took sixth place, and Hannah Antone finished eighth for the Lady Eagles.
Kerstin Oritz led PV with a fourth place finish with her time of 22:04, while Cassandra Crowell finished seventh for the Lady Panthers.
"Kerstin has been rock solid, and Cassandra has been racing stellar," Sage said. "Plus the other girls are all around their personal bests. So that says a lot for how our team is coming along."
Shandiin Yessilth was Shiprock's top runner, taking 10th place with a time of 22:59.
Piedra Vista's next meet will be Saturday in Gallup.
Sage said he is expecting a depleted lineup for the race because some of his runners have other school obligations, but sees this as a chance for some other runners to gain experience.
