Farmington High tennis player Molly Merrion picked up two victories for the North All-Stars in the first ever North South High School All-Star Tennis atch Saturday and Sunday at the Tanoan Coutry Club in Albuquerque.
Merrion won at No. 2 singles 6-1,6-0, defeating Eliana Garcia of Carlsbad, and partnered with Gillian Ratliff-Shae of Los Alamos to win 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles over the team of Jacinda Hatfield of Lovington and Helen Chiou of Carlsbad.
The North won 12 of 15 matches overall at the event, which featured the top boy and girl high school players from across the state.
The boys and girls participated in three singles and three doubles matches each, along with three mixed-doubles matches.
The players selected were seniors who were nominated by their coaches and chosen by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.
