FARMINGTON — Two men were killed Sunday during a crash on U.S. Highway 550 north of Aztec.
Two motorcycles collided into the rear end of a sport-utility vehicle at around 9:45 a.m. according to a San Juan County Sheriff's Office news release.
Three motorcycles were driving south on U.S. 550 and two of the drivers were unable to avoid hitting an SUV that pulled onto the highway from County Road 2755.
David Hutchison a 78-year-old Aztec man, was the driver of the SUV and died as a result of the accident, according to the news release.
Michael Shockley, a 43-year-old Louisiana man, was the driver of one of the motorcycles and he also was killed.
The other motorcyclist involved in the accident was treated for minor injuries at the scene and a passenger in the SUV also received minor injuries and was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center, according to the sheriff's office.
U.S. 550 was partially closed until 3 p.m. Sunday as crash reconstructionists worked the scene and work crews cleared debris from the highway.
