FARMINGTON — San Juan County sheriff's deputies apprehended a shooting suspect in Aztec Friday night. 

The incident was reported at 9:52 pm. Deputies began their pursuit five minutes later when the suspect fled into the surrounding hills. 

The Bloomfield K-9 unit was dispatched at 10:29 pm to assist in the search, as well as the sheriff's department helicopter at 10:46. 

The shooting followed an argument or altercation at 1140 N.M. Highway 574 Space A. The suspect left the residence with a shotgun and fired through a sliding glass door, hitting a 26-year-old male in the crotch and leg area. 

The victim was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center. He did not sustain life-threatening injuries. 
Sheriff's deputies apprehended the suspect at 11:48 pm Friday night. The suspect was injured during the search, and taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center. He has not yet been charged.
