District Attorney Rick Tedrow placed ADA Rory Foutz on administrative leave late Friday after allegations of possible criminal acts surfaced earlier last week, Chief Deputy District Attorney Dustin O'Brien said Monday in a phone interview.
Tedrow, upon learning of the allegations, consulted with investigators from the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, who opened an investigation.
"They came across information alleging acts by a prosecutor that could be criminal in nature asking us to look into it," Sheriff's Lt. Cory Tanner said.
No charges have been filed and neither O'Brien nor Tanner would comment on the specifics of the investigation.
Tanner said several people were interviewed and detectives continue to investigate. He expects the investigation to wrap up sometime this week.
Following the completed investigation, sheriff's detectives will forward the information onto the District Attorney's Office for review.
Tedrow's office will confllict the case out to another district attorney's office. Tedrow, citing personnel issues, declined to comment on whether Foutz was placed on paid or unpaid leave.
