FARMINGTON — Holiday parades are taking over downtown streets across San Juan County beginning this week.

The Farmington Christmas parade, sponsored by BP America, will take place at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, on Main Street. This year's theme is "Celebrating Farmington; Past, Present and Future."

Grand marshals are Tom Dugan, T. Greg Merrion and Dalton Scott, each representing the past, present and future of Farmington.

"This really has become a tradition for families to kick off the holiday season," Chamber of Commerce President Dorothy Nobis said. "We have been getting phone calls since August asking about this year's parade so we are hoping to have wonderful weather and lots of fantastic floats."

Nobis dropped a hint that Mrs. Claus might be making an appearance alongside her husband, Santa Claus.
