The Jonas Brothers just cancelled a tour and may be close to breaking up, according to TMZ.

Excuse me for a second (grabs paper bag, breathes rapidly, then slower, trying to calm down) ... OK. Better.

Kevin, Joe and Nick have cancelled their 19-show tour that was supposed to start Friday.

The dispute is over their musical direction. Sources reportedly told the website each brother has a different vision of where they want the band to go, ranging from pop to hard rock.

This might be a good time to remember a similar situation among siblings who found an amicable compromise: Marie stayed a little bit country, while Donny remained a little bit rock and roll.

The Jonas boys have apparently agreed that releasing a new record anytime soon would be a stylistic disaster.

TMZ reported the tour cancellation may be a precursor to an official breakup, but no decision has been made. Sources told the site the brothers are meeting this weekend to try and settle their differences.

"It could go either way," the source said.
